Ryder Cup, April 13, 2011

The first round of the Wayne Rush Trophy in 2011 was contested at Beverly Place Golf Club, San Fernando, Pampanga on Wednesday, 13th, April 2011..

40 players made the Journey to Beverly Place and two players from Angeles, namely John Greenhalgh and Bruce Milner were drafted to play for Fairway Ramblers. To make even numbers of 20 per team.

A modified shotgun start was used to speed things up was used with 3 flights starting on #1 tee, 4 flights on #5 tee box and 3 flights starting on #8 tee box.

Unfortunately Garth knight must be suffering from jet lag and tee on as flight 2 from Hole #5 instead of flight 3. He was not even the captain of his team.

We used the established formula, which is the lowest handicapped player in the flight receives no strokes on any hole (therefore 0) , the difference in handicaps between the lowest and the other players, divided by 75%.

Example:- Player 1 H/cap 13 becomes 0

Player 2 H/cap 14 becomes 1 (14-13=1; 75% of 1 =.75 round out to 1)

Player 3 H/cap 17 becomes 3 (17-13=4 75% of 4 =3)

Player 4 H/cap 35 becomes 17 (35-13=22 75% of 22=16.5 round out 17

There using the index of the holes on the score card the players work out where additional shots are allotted to each player.

Holes are then played and the lowest NETT score wins the hole. If the same NETT score is recorded by a both teams the hole is Halved.

Points are then allotted to the teams:-

1 point for a win, Half point for a game that finished All Square.

The game was arrange to be played at Beverly Place Golf course , San Fernando, Pampanga, this being a neutral course, on Wednesday 13th April 2011
