Thailand Trip 9th - 23rd October, 2011.
Hi all,
Well all bookings have been made and finalised for this year's trip, are travel arrangements are a bit disjointed this year with some opting to fly with Cebu Pacific.
Hopefully it will all go to plan and everyone will arrive safely and with out too many hassles.
At present time we will have 22 players for the first week and 19 during the second week. (That is if everyone plays), so should be fun.
Itinerary for Golf Games.
Tee times have been booked for first week. Second week is subject to alterations.
Costs are as accurate as my limited knowledge of the Thai Language allows.
GOLF ITINERARY THAILAND, 9-23 October 2011
Times shown in () are first tee times. All prices in Thai Baht . # = carts are compulsory. Minimum tip for caddy is 200 Baht These courses were played last year
We will depart the hotel at 0700 hours most days. For those who have been on the trip before will remember Uncle Charlie's across the road from the Baybreeze hotel, well this has been sold/taken over and id now 'Rosco's Sports Bar'. Thanks to Bruce Milner this will open early for those wanting breakfast before departure.
So far have only had 6 reply's with Tee shirt sizes, so I you want one let me know.
We will try to have one Match Play game on the first week and it looks like it will be Australia v/s the Rest of the World.
Possible teams would be as below providing everyone wants to participate. This would NOT necessarily be the pairings.
The Tournament conditions while we are in Thailand as as under:-
Format for Golf days.
We will play Monday to Friday inclusive each week we are in Pattaya, and any day can be used for rest days, if required BUT please advise the previous day if you are not playing so transport arrangements can be altered if necessary.
Money for transport cost will be collected the previous day and no refunds will be given for no shows.
All flights except the match play days shall be blind draws. Unless the sharing of a cart hire, by some players does not allow this.
All days will be competition days with all participating players paying a fee of 100 baht. (It is not compulsory to join tournament). This will be paid out as prize money, (approximately 50% to winner, 30% to second and 20% to third). If numbers allow there will be A and B flights, particularly in first week when we may have 20+ players some days.
Some of the prize money will be allocated to the 2 NTP par 3 holes each game (NTP on front 9 is for 0 -18 handicaps, NTP on back 9 is for 19 and above handicaps).
Handicaps will be latest BSGC handicap or FRGC handicap + 4 strokes. WHICH EVER IS LOWER! Handicaps will be adjusted lower on daily basis. Players without BSGC or FRGC handicaps will use their club handicaps, if no handicap, system 36 shall be used on first game played to establish handicap.
Winner: - 3 strokes plus -.5 of a shot for each shot under net par. 2nd place -2 strokes plus -.3 of a shot for each shot under net par. 3rd place -1 stroke plus -.5 of a shot for each shot under net par. Losers: +1 stroke plus +.1 for every shot over net par.
Games will vary from day to day e.g. Stableford, Stroke, V/s Par and 4BBB. (No Ambrose games will be played as it is felt that all players will want to play these courses to the best of their ability).
One day in the first week, will be a team competition (match play pairs one day singles the other) with captains nominating teams, then the teams playing against each other. The lowest Handicapped player of each flight shall be deemed to be scratch. All other players in that flight shall play with a handicap of Ύs of the difference between the lowest handicap and their handicap.
Example Player A 16 H/c 0 Player B 17 H/c (17 - 16 = 1 /Ύ = .75) 1 Player C 21 H/c (21 - 16 = 5 / Ύ = 3.75) 4 Player D 26 H/c (26 -16 = 10/Ύ= 7.5) 8 So player B would get 1 shot on hole indexed 1 only. Player C would get 1 shot on holes indexed 1 thru 4. Player D would get 1 shot on holes indexed 1 thru 8. So the lowest handicapped is actually slightly better off as on normal handicap he would have to give Player C 5 shots not 4, and player D 10 not 8. A trophy will be presented to the winning team. (Bring your cameras).
Local rules to be played in conjunction with tournament play are as follows:-- 1/. THE RULES OF GOLF apply at all times, supplemented by the following PSC LOCAL rules. 2/. LOCAL COURSE RULES: as laid down by the golf course and posted in the clubhouse or on the scorecard, this includes the use of authorized DROP ZONES on the course being played. FLOWER BEDS: The local rules of the course you are playing APPLY. 12/. WASHED OUT AREAS & damage caused by excessive drainage of water are to be treated as ground under repair (GUR). The ball may be dropped without penalty at the nearest point of relief, no nearer the hole plus one club length. If applicable in a BUNKER, the ball must be dropped in the same bunker. 13/. HAZARDS: Unmarked or insufficiently marked hazards shall have the outer edge of the hazard defined at the point where the ground breaks down to form the depression. If the hazard is completely unmarked, it should be treated as a Lateral Water Hazard. 14/. STONES in bunkers are movable obstructions (Rule 24.1 applies). 15/. YARDAGE MARKERS: All MAN MADE yardage markers are to be treated as immovable obstructions and relief may be taken without penalty (Rule 24-2 applies) the nearest point of relief plus one club length. 16/. MEASURING DEVICES: In all tournaments a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only, PROVIDED that it does not unnecessarily disrupt the pace of play. A device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (eg. gradient, wind speed, temp, etc.) is in breach of Rule 14.3; the penalty for which is disqualification, regardless of whether such functions are actually used.
17/. A player may take relief (nearest point of relief plus
one club length no nearer the hole), when a ball lies in a CONCRETE DITCH
not marked as a hazard or lateral water hazard.
