STROKE EVENT OR MEDAL PLAY:-

This type of competition is the one most commonly played by professional golfers around the world. The stroke event is the true test of a golfer’s ability and is played regularly at club level.

Although the game is tough on the player, the method of scoring is simple. The number of strokes taken at each hole is entered on the card and the card totalled for each nine holes, and for the full eighteen holes.

The player’s full handicap is deducted and both scratch (gross) and net scores must be shown on the card.

The marker can record his score on the card also as a check against his card to ensure correct score is recorded by the player marking his scorecard.

Most clubs have events which highlight both scratch (gross) and net winners. In both cases, the player with the lowest score is the winner.

We also, in most cases, have a competition for the least number of putts for the round, and this can also be recorded on the card.
